Charla Marie

Biography

Charla Marie is an 18-year-old singer/songwriter from Torbay, Newfoundland. While experimental with various genres, she primarily focuses on the art of indie-folk music, capturing emotion through vocals and guitar. 

Over the years, Charla has made countless appearances on stages throughout St. John’s, and recently had the opportunity to perform with The Once and the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra during their Spring Pops concert in April. 

Adding to her musical abilities, Charla has collaborated with many other artists including Charlie-Rose Hodder-Neis, resulting in her first studio recording and radio debut. The duo performed their newest single, “The Christmas Promise”, at The Once’s Christmas Concert in 2024, and had their song played on CBC and VOCM on Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning. 

For as long as she can remember, Charla has always had a deep connection towards every aspect of music. She began her journey in performance at the age of 13, and has grown through countless experiences in the music industry. Since then, she has been mentored by various public figures such as John Clarke, Kellie Walsh, Rosemary Lawton, Fergus O’Byrne, and Derrick Dymond. She expresses her emotions through lyricism and harmony and hopes to make others feel her emotion through her performances.
